Weather and Trail Update

Trail conditions in and around Boonville are not the best due to the recent high level of rainfall  ...  Trail C4E to Constableville is closed due to this heavy rainfall ... the bridge at Dog Creek is not passable due to ice and water and is  in danger.  We may have to try to get an excavator in there to break up the jam and high water ...   all other trails are open but Towpath has no base and only low level of snow.....  The 2+ inches of rain have made all trails have water holes ....  drive with care.

Lost Trail trails are open but there are some snags on all trails.....to go from 'no snow' to 'too much snow' so quickly, it didn't give the puddles time to freeze up and we have 'slush puddles' appearing on all trails, C7B, C4E, C8C, Town Loop, side trails to Bowling Alley & Elks Lodge. We have tried to clear up downed limbs, trees, brush. Also there is still some logging going on at the Cold Brook Campground property(Pt. Leyden Trail) that should finish up in a few days...but need to watch out there. We really need another full week of freezing weather to make the ground solidify. Groomers are out doing the best they can with the great quantity of snow dumped on them in a short time and with the great influx of sleds running the trails. Be courteous and ride safe.

Maps

Maps are available for the Lewis County area .. all brand new with the trail changes.  These cost $5 each.  The Boonville maps didn't get sold much last season due to the "lack of a good snow" ..  and not many in the area to purchase them.   Since there were no trail changes, we just updated our advertisers and updated the date of the map...these still sell for only $1.00.  If anyone wants to purchase maps just send a check or cash plus $1. for mailing charges to our P. O. Box 604, Boonville, NY 13309.

Lost Trail Donates

The Lost Trail Snowmobile Club has decided to make a donation to 2 events.... both are for 'kids'... we have promised to make a "basket" for auction at both fundraisers. We would like to ask the membership if they would have anything appropriate they would like to include in the baskets.

West Leyden Trail Issue

A very irate long-time landowner has just informed us he is closing his land to everybody.  It is on the West Leyden trail between the Dorn Spur Road and the Dorn Road.   It is not necessarily the snowmobilers that have caused the problem, but a lot of recent general trespassing and total disrespect by hunters and ATVers has caused him to be fed up with  the general public and he is shutting his property off to everyone.  The Club offered to have a crew go and do some fencing, but he would not accept any help.   This is a vital part of the West Leyden Trail and will need a large reroute. If anyone has any ideas for a reroute in this area, please contact Dan 315-794-5154 or John 315-723-3033 asap.  We really need some help in this matter.

DMV Online Registrations

As of this year, DMV will allow sled registrations online, for both in-state and out of state.  This may sound good, however, by doing it this way, your local DMV offices will lose out on quite a bit of income and may eventually close and jobs are lost.  By registering online the local offices will only get 4% instead of the 12.7% if you walk in the door.  And that 4% will only be received after they get a certain number of transactions.

Kawasaki Cab Structure for sale

FOR SALE: Lost Trail has come into the possession of a Kawasaki Cab Structure. We were delighted and in hopes it would fit our 2005 Polaris Ranger 6 wheeler. However, no such luck. We are, therefore, offering the cab for sale. The structure retails for $1900. 00 new….this is used but is in mint condition. It contains the roof, front and rear glass window, steel and glass side doors. It can be seen in the Kawasaki catalog… item # Kaf4u – 005 BA…and fits a 4000 or 4010 model MULE.
